Freakazoid!
One of The WB's Kids' WB programming blocks, Freakazoid! is an American animated television series produced by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for the channel. Freakazoid, the series' eponymous character, is a schizophrenic superhero who faces up against a bevy of super-villains. The mini-episodes of other superheroes' escapades are also featured in the show. Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation produced the show. The series was the third Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation collaboration during the golden age of American animation in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Rumors of Freakazoid! being aired on the Hub Network have been around since Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs started broadcasting. Freakazoid! was originally planned to be a superhero action-adventure cartoon with comic elements, but executive producer Steven Spielberg asked series producer and writer Tom Ruegger and the Animaniacs team to make it a flat-out comedy. Slapstick, fourth wall firings, parody, surreal humor and pop cultural references distinguish this Ruegger-led sitcom from others like Animaniacs.
