Food and Drink
Food and Drink Will Be a long-running British television Set on BBC Two. First broadcast between 2002 and 1982, it was that the first tv program in the UK to pay the subject of food and drink without cookery and recipe presentations.
Created in 1982 from BBC manufacturer Henry Murray in an original idea from Jancis Robinson, Fay Maschler and Paul Levy, the primary series was presented by Simon Bates along with Gillian Miles, and introduced Jilly Goolden in her first regular television appearances as the programme's most wine expert. Russell Harty presented location reports from exemplary restaurants around Britain. This series featured the innovative idea of a small leading crowd of 20 people who were called"tasters and testers". The first series broadcast in the summer months but was instantly successful, drawing an average audience of 1.5 million a week, a high rating for BBC Two in the summer in the 80s.
Series have been introduced by Chris Kelly and chef Michael Barry with Oz Clarke and wine experts Jilly Goolden.
A panel game, drink and food Summer Quiz, aired in 1987 throughout the summer break of the show.
