Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British sitcom that aired on BBC2 from 1975 until 1979. There were twelve episodes produced. John Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth wrote the play, and both of them starred in it. Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel in Torquay, on the "English Riviera," is the setting for the series. The stories revolve around tense, harsh, and put-upon hotel owner Basil Fawlty, his dictatorial wife Sybil, a fairly normal chambermaid Polly, and hapless Spanish waiter Manuel, and their attempts to run the hotel amidst comic events and an assortment of demanding and eccentric visitors. Fawlty Towers was chosen the best British television series of all time in a poll conducted by the British Film Institute in 2000 and voted on by industry professionals.
