Doctor Finlay
The British TV show Doctor Finlay is based on A. J. Cronin's stories about a fictional hero named Dr. Finlay. It is a follow-up to the popular BBC series Dr. Finlay's Casebook. It happens in the 1940s, after John Finlay comes home from the war. Early on, the new National Health Service is set up, and the medical practice at Arden House in Tannochbrae, Scotland, is updated. Dr. Finlay is played by David Rintoul, Dr. Cameron is played by Ian Bannen, and Dr. Finlay's housekeeper, Janet, is played by Annette Crosbie. Finlay's assistant, Dr. Neil, played by Jason Flemyng, and Finlay's new partner, Dr. Napier, played by Jessica Turner, are also important characters. The series was made by Scottish Television and shot in Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland. It was shown on Masterpiece Theatre on PBS in the United States.
