Only Yesterday
Taeko is 27 yrs of age, unmarried, and it's 1982, and has lived her whole life in Tokyo. She decides to visit her family from the countryside, and also memories flooding back with her younger years: the immature stirrings of love, the onset of puberty, and also the frustrations of boys and math time, as the train travels throughout night. At the station young farmer Toshio meets her, and also the encounters with him begin to beg her into forgotten longings. In lyrical switches between the present and the history, Taeko contemplates her life's arc, and also wonders if she has been faithful to the fantasies of her childhood self.
