The story of Chow Chee Beng, a middle-aged white collar manager who gets laid off by his employer and the protagonist of Number One, is told through the lens of a heartwarming musical comedy that focuses on a family. Chee Beng is left with few options after a string of unsuccessful job interviews, so he reluctantly accepts a position as manager of the well-known drag club "Number One." In a short amount of time, Chee Beng is coerced into donning drag and performing on stage among the other drag queens. And to everyone's astonishment, Chee Beng is a natural drag queen, and his act blows the minds of the crowds!
