California Dreaming
The documentary California Dreaming takes a look at the peculiar town of California City, which is the third largest city in terms of land area in the state of California, despite having a population of only roughly 14,000 people. It was grandiosely dreamt of in the 1950s as a new metropolis to rival Los Angeles, which is only two hours away, but it is now a little town within a much larger ghost town in the desert. In the 1950s, it was envisioned as a new metropolis to rival Los Angeles. The documentary follows several residents of the area, one of whom is the blue-collar worker Jean-Paul LeBlanc, who was born in Quebec. The purpose of the film is to examine how the American Dream has evolved over the years by drawing parallels between the American Dream of the 1960s, when the city was founded, and the dreams of those who live there today.
