The Moderns
Nick Hart is a struggling American artist living in 1920s Paris among the expatriate community. He spends the majority of his time drinking and socializing in local cafés, as well as harassing gallery owner Libby Valentin to sell his paintings. He becomes involved in a scheme to forge three paintings by wealthy art patroness Nathalie de Ville. This leads to several run-ins with Bertram Stone, an American rubber magnate who happens to be married to Hart's ex-wife Rachel.
