The Departure
An intimate portrait of Ittetsu Nemoto, an aimless and rebellious former punk rocker who became a Buddhist priest. He is renowned in Japan for his wisdom and compassion in saving the lives of countless suicidal men and women. However, Nemoto is approaching middle age with his own wife and young son when he finds his life is at risk from heart disease, which is exacerbated by the enormous emotional burden of caring for those who no longer wish to live. Can he find the fortitude to rescue himself when protecting others takes such a toll?
